Wilson and Fan set up Nanjing semi-final showdown

Kyren Wilson and Fan Zhengyi will meet in the semi-finals of the 2026 International Championship after both came through Wednesday’s afternoon session in Nanjing.

Wilson beat home favourite Ding Junhui 6-4, sealing the match with a break of 56 in the tenth frame. It extends the Northern Ireland Open champion’s winning run to ten matches and gives him back-to-back ranking-event semi-finals.

Fan continued his excellent week with a 6-3 victory over Hossein Vafaei. After trailing 2-1, the 25-year-old won five of the next six frames to reach his first ranking semi-final since his memorable 2022 European Masters triumph.

The pair now face a longer test on Thursday, with their best-of-17 semi-final played across two sessions. Wilson is chasing a second consecutive ranking title, while Fan is bidding to cap a run which has already included his dramatic win over Judd Trump.
